Merit Badge Counselor Registration
Shortly, the Scout Shop will check their "Official List of Units with Registered Merit Badge Counselors" before allowing the purchase of scout awards. The Shop will only allow the purchase of awards if the unit has registered merit counselors. This will also apply to Eagle Applications. This rule is not new but was implemented by the National BSA many years ago but not strongly enforced; it will be strongly enforced. To register Merit Badge Counselors follow the following brief Process (there is no cost to register a counselor)

  1. Identify qualified and appropriate Merit Badge Counselors
  2. Return the following two completed forms to the District MB Registration Coordinator (Ken Barton at kbartonjr@comcast.net). Incomplete forms will be returned.:
      a. Standard Adult Leader Application Form (Council Program Center) use Position Code= 42
      b. Merit Counselor Registration Form
  3. Counselors should attend training particularly to receive training in "Safe Scouting" techniques.

To register or if you have questions, please contact the District Merit Badge Coordinator
